Do It Yourself!! (Do It Yourself!! -どぅー・いっと・ゆあせるふ-, Dū Itto Yuaserufu!!) is an original anime series created by IMAGO and Avex Pictures and animated by PINE JAM. The series premiered from October 6 to December 22, 2022, on TV Tokyo and other network stations.

Production[]

On March 25, 2021, the anime series has been announced and producing the anime series.^[1] On the same day, it is revealed the main six characters and names as seen by an illustration^[2] and the first key visual,^[3] TAKAGI and Sanjo City will be officially cooperating with the anime series.^[4] On April 26, 2021, Serufu's character key visual has been released.^[5] On May 26, 2021, Purin's character key visual has been released.^[6] On July 1, 2021, Kurei's character key visual has been released.^[7] On July 21, 2021, Takumi's character key visual has been released.^[8]

On March 24, 2022, Shii and Jobko's character key visual has been released.^[9] On the same day, the first PV has been released, additional staff members^[10] and 2022 premiere.^[11]^[12] On June 6, 2022, Konomi Inagaki casts Serufu Yua.^[13]^[14] On July 28, 2022, new casts are revealed and October 2022 premiere.^[15]^[16] On the same day, two characters' PVs for Serufu and Purin has been released.^[17]^[16] On August 4, 2022, another two-character PVs for Kurei and Takumi has been released.^[18]^[19] On August 11, 2022, the final two characters PVs for Shii and Jobko has been released.^[20]^[21] On August 18, 2022, the anime reveals the second key visual, the second PV with October 6 premiere, opening theme song, additional staff and Yumi Kakazu casts Haruko Hoketsu.^[22]^[23]

Overseas distribution[]

On July 19, 2022, Crunchyroll announced that it has acquired the series outside of Asia.^[24]

Prescreening and events[]

On July 19, 2022, the first episode was screened at Crunchyroll Expo at Hime Stage on August 6, 2022.^[24]^[25] On July 28, 2022, the first two episodes were screened to Shinjuku Wald 9 on September 18, 2022. It is revealed those episodes have no opening or ending songs, and cast talk event.^[26] On September 9, 2022, an advance for the first episode was screened at Crunchyroll Expo Australia 2022 on September 17, 2022.^[27]^[28] On September 18, 2022, an event of Super Gataket will be held on November 20, 2022, with performances by Konomi Inagaki and Kana Ichinose.^[29]

When Serufu ponders how to increase the number of club members, Takumi Hikage (Takumi), who is in the same class as her, says, "If I make the club room cute, the other students might be interested?" and gives an idea. Kurei adopts Takumi's idea and immediately begins work and ingenuity to make the club room cute. Takumi ends up getting involved in the group of Serufu and participating in the work.

Jobko and Purin get excited about cutting-edge engineering. The next morning, when Purin woke up in her room, Jobko was in the room. Jobko released the security on her own and entered Purin's house. How she hopes that she is going to live in Purin's house from today. Jobko tries to make the attic into a cozy space with DIY, and Purin ends up helping out with the work.

Kokoro Kouki (Shii), a student from the next high school, suddenly came to the DIY Club. From the next school building, she was watching the two of them, always doing something interesting, and she was interested. Serufu accepts it easily, but Kurei says that it is not so easy to do activities with students from different schools. Shii is more powerful than anyone else here, so she says she'll be useful for DIY, but Kurei couldn't ignore that. An arm-wrestling showdown begins to see who is stronger, Shii and Kurei.

By doing DIY and selling those small items, the part fee is not enough, but she wants to procure the parts for creating a secret base that must be procured as new. When Purin finds out that Jobko is going to the beach, she participates in the activities of the DIY Club and ends up spending time with them.

Therefore, Kurei suggests working in her own home, which has an air conditioner and a workspace. Kurei's parents run a home center called Waku Waku Wan Wan, commonly known as Waku Wan. Serufu and others visit Kurei's house on the suggestion. Out of curiosity, she enters Kurei's room and discovers an unexpected side of Kurei.

Purin tries hard to encourage Serufu, but Serufu isn't depressed at all. She was already thinking positively about how she could gather the necessary materials again. Surprised but relieved, Purin gives the memento to Serufu.

The work isn't perfect, with gaps in the walls and a slightly slanted floor. That's okay. Everyone is filled with a deep sense of satisfaction that they have created their dreams with their strength. And then, summer vacation. After completing her study abroad period, Jobko vows to reunite with Serufu and returns to the United States. Purin invites Serufu to the DIY Club. Purin says that there is still something missing in the secret hideout, so Serufu and the two of them start work.

Manga adaptation[]

A manga adaptation by Beru Koyubita was announced on September 18, 2022, during the event of Shinjuku Wald 9.^[30]^[31] It began serialization in Square Enix's online magazine MangaUP! on October 5, 2022.^[30] The first volume of the manga was released on November 7, 2022.^[32]

Do It Your Radio!![]

A web radio titled Do It Your Radio!!, which was announced on October 3, 2022. It was released in Onsen on October 16, 2022, with the personality, is Konomi Inagaki.^[33]

Live-action drama[]

On April 11, 2023, a live-action drama series project has begun and will be set in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture in the following anime series.^[34] On May 29, 2023, the drama series, titled DIY!! -Do It Yourself- without the full anime name, will premiere on July 4, 2023, on MBS and TBS in Japan.^[35]
